Day 6 - Wageningen
Today would be the last outing day in the Netherlands, during which we focused on Entrepreneurship and what it means. We started the day of with an introduction and explanation of today's workshop, during which the participants were going to set up their own pitch about entrepreneurship with information that they acquired from interviews with people on the streets of Wageningen.
The city of Wageningen is home to Wageningen University & Research, which has its focus on e.g. Biology, Ecology, Food and Entrepreneurship. It is a small but busy city - especially when it is not the holidays. We arrived their near a supermarket where the participants could get some lunch for later, after which they went into the city to interview people on the street. All of the groups had some interviews, and had some time to enjoy the nice weather and the city centre.
After the interviews, we were headed to the Blue Beaver Boat on the Rijn, on which we could enjoy the nice weather once again, learn something about the environment of Wageningen and have some lunch. After that, we got of at the 'Blue Chamber' (a place where lots of wild life was located), such as cows, horses and lots and lots of birds. We had a short walk to the bird watching cottage, while we received lots of information on the different birds living there, how the cows loved each other and what the environment looked like throughout history. On the way back, the participants had time to prepare their pitch that they would hold for three experts that were invited to come that afternoon.
Each
group presented their findings after the interviews, together with their own
idea for the environment as entrepreneurs, such as trolley buses, a new way of
recycling and wall gardens. The experts provided some great feedback and asked question,
because of which the participants could think more about their proposition and
presentation. We ended the evening with another nice dinner prepared by Irma, Enikö and
Rianne, followed by an amazing special evening/party at which the participants
could dress up in all kinds of different (and sometimes weird and hilarious)
ways!
